Hawthorne Stable Notes for Saturday, April 10, 2010
A nice day outside today, but we will have to wait just one
more day to see turf racing at Hawthorne as it was just a little wet. I expect we will be on the grass tomorrow with
a good turf course for the Sunday nine race card.
Looking back at the Friday card, the track paid evenly and
the payouts were great. Congrats to our handicapper Ron Uchman
as he hit the Early Pick 4 in his bankroll and is currently up over $1,000 on
the meet. I hit the Late Pick 4 on a $64
ticket and that wager returned over $570! If you want to see our selections and top
plays daily, they are posted on our website at www.hawthorneracecourse.com under
“Today’s Selections”.
On Friday, Tim Thornton made his statement with a
three-bagger as he is now within five of Tanner Riggs for tops in the jockey
standings. Diego Sanchez also had a
double on the card. Trainer Rusty
Hellman may have been foreshadowing his big day last week when Devient Behavior and Hangman worked in company a week ago
Thursday. The two horses looked good
that day and they looked even better yesterday when both were victorious in
tough races.
Nominations for the $200,000 Grade 3 Sixty Sails Handicap
were released and 23 fillies and mares have been nominated for the 1 1/8 miles
race to take place next Saturday. This
race will come up with a very solid field as we draw the race on Tuesday. The view the noms
and past performances for the Sixty Sails, click on the “Horsemen” section of
our website and they are posted under the Stakes Schedule.

Best Bets
Race 4 - #1 – Michael’s Dreamin’ –
He was trying to run down Kemp in his last out and almost got there in a day
where Kemp was not pushed along on the lead. Today, there is some other pace in the race,
which could set things up perfectly for Michael to come charging late.
Race 8 - #5 – Bulls First Trick – The break ended the day
for this one last time out as he got destroyed out of the gate. He gets some pace to chase in here and if he
can get remotely close to his start two races back, that should be enough to
handle these.
